Organizations are adopting AI tools faster than their governance and risk programs can keep pace. To help leaders move from experimentation to secure implementation, SBS CyberSecurity is launching the Converge Cyber + AI Conference, a new hands-on event focused on the intersection of AI and cybersecurity.
The inaugural Converge Cyber + AI Conference will take place October 6–7, 2026, at the DoubleTree Omaha Downtown hotel in Omaha, Nebraska. Designed for technical teams, executive decision-makers, and governance, risk, and compliance (GRC) leaders, it brings together organizations ready to move beyond theory and put AI and cybersecurity concepts into action.
"Converge is a new kind of tech conference, where cybersecurity meets AI, and where fun, engaging content is paired with hands-on experiences and real-world takeaways," said SBS President Jon Waldman.
Unlike traditional back-to-back presentation formats, Converge is structured around participation. Over two days, attendees will take part in:
- Hands-on AI labs, including prompt engineering and building AI agents
- A live capture the flag (CTF) cybersecurity tournament
- Interactive “villages” focused on emerging risks and tools — including a lockpick village where attendees explore physical security concepts
- Workshops centered on real-world implementation strategies
"We designed it to go beyond lecture-first events — bringing GRC, technical, and AI tracks together with workshops and practical sessions that help people experience new technologies and use them to solve real problems," Waldman said. "Converge reflects what we believe at SBS CyberSecurity: Learning should be actionable, empowering, and leave attendees ready to make confident, real-world changes."
The conference also addresses one of the most pressing questions facing organizations today: how to embrace AI without introducing unmanaged risk. Sessions will help attendees evaluate AI risks and rewards, define business-aligned use cases, and establish governance guardrails that enable responsible AI deployment.
While especially relevant for financial institutions, fintechs, and other regulated industries, Converge is open to any organization looking to build a secure, AI-enabled business.
Attendees can expect to leave with:
- A clearer understanding of AI risks, controls, and governance
- Practical, vetted AI use cases
- First-hand experience through interactive labs and activities
- Actionable tools to advance cybersecurity and AI initiatives immediately
Registration opens in April. Sign up on the Converge event page to be first in line for more information, including early-bird pricing details, speaker announcements, and event updates.
