If you work in the financial industry, and especially if you’re involved with IT or Cybersecurity, one thing is constant: change. If you’re not in the process of implementing new technology, like mobile check capture or interactive teller machines, then you’re probably implementing new controls to mitigate risk, like application whitelisting or 2-factor authentication. If it’s not new technology, you’re likely dealing with or planning for a regulatory IT examination or IT Audit. And if not an exam or audit, then you’re probably trying to find the time to read or attempt to understand the most recent and updated regulatory guidance. For some individuals, this feels like chaos.
There is, however, another constant to the IT and Cybersecurity realm of banking – Cybersecurity Certifications from the SBS Institute. These banking-specific certifications are designed to help make you an expert in your unique role at your institution. There is a certification for you, whether you are involved with implementing and maintaining technology, you are responsible for managing the Information Security Program, or you are a member of senior management or the Board of Directors.
The SBS Institute Cybersecurity Certifications can help make your day-to-day job duties more efficient by helping you to understand how to implement comprehensive, valuable, and repeatable processes, saving you time by not having to reinvent the wheel each time new technology needs to be implemented or new threats or regulations are released. Certifications will also help keep you up-to-date on the newest technologies in banking, as well as the threats and risk-mitigating controls that come with them.
Being certified will give you the confidence to know that you’re doing exactly what you need to be doing to ensure that your client’s confidential information is safe. Certifications will also provide you with extra marketability as an expert, perhaps helping you get that promotion or demonstrate to an examiner or auditor your capabilities.
In short, Cybersecurity Certifications can help you to save time and effort by showing you how to implement comprehensive, repeatable, and valuable processes specific to your role and your institution. You’ll walk away from these certification programs with a new confidence in your job duties and real-world exercises to implement in your Information Security Program.
