SBS CyberSecurity employees have raised more than $1,000, which will be matched by the company and donated to the Avera Foundation to support the mission of Avera’s Race Against Cancer.
The Avera Race Against Cancer is held every year to raise money to provide cancer screening and detection, clinical trials, patient resources, and medical services for cancer patients being treated in the Avera hospital network. The network includes hospitals in over 300 locations across five states.
This year, 3,657 people in 155 teams participated in the race virtually on Saturday, May 8.
“Cancer has touched the lives of so many at SBS over the years. In May of 2020 cancer struck our SBS family again, this time targeting Reece Simpson, a young 24-year-old man who had just started as a Regional Account Executive for SBS in South Dakota and Nebraska. Today, Reece has successfully beaten back his cancer and is a top sales talent at SBS,” said Chad Knutson, President, CISO and partner of SBS CyberSecurity. “I’m proud of our group of employees for taking the initiative to rally around Avera’s Race Against Cancer.”
“On behalf of all of us at Avera and the Avera Foundation, we are incredibly grateful for the passion and support from SBS CyberSecurity. Their gift to the Avera Race Against Cancer will benefit the thousands of patients and families that are served at the Avera Cancer Institute every year. It’s grassroots efforts just like these that have allowed the Avera Race to help so many across our region and we are so thankful to have a partner like SBS,” added Elijah Bonde, Special Events Coordinator for the Avera Foundation.
The countdown for Avera’s Race Against Cancer in 2022 has already begun. More information about next year’s race can be found at: https://secure2.convio.net/avera/site/TR?fr_id=1140&pg=entry.
Hacker Hour webinars are a series of free webinars hosted by SBS CyberSecurity. Unlike paid webinars, Hacker Hours are aimed to meet on a monthly basis to discuss cybersecurity issues and trends in an open format. Attendees are encouraged to join the conversation and get their questions answered. SBS will also offer products and services to help financial institutions with these specific issues.
