Toni Meyer Explains How TRAC Supports GRC on Grow Your Credit Union

Credit unions are navigating rising expectations around governance, risk, and compliance (GRC), especially as regulatory updates continue to reshape yearly exam preparation. SBS CyberSecurity Director of Product Management Toni Meyer joined a recent Grow Your Credit Union video segment to discuss the pressures credit unions are facing, the factors that make GRC challenging for lean teams, and how structured processes can help institutions stay ahead of ongoing changes.

Meyer noted that many credit unions are stretched thin, with employees taking on multiple roles while still needing to stay aware of shifting expectations.

"Their employees wear many hats," she said. "Just being able to keep up with the ever-changing landscape of governance, risk, and compliance … that's a big challenge."

She emphasized that vendor management remains one of the most demanding areas for teams trying to maintain visibility, track requirements, and stay confident during exams.

A major theme of her conversation was exam readiness. Meyer pointed out that some teams still find themselves gathering spreadsheets at the last minute, despite having tools available to simplify the work. TRAC, SBS's risk management platform, is designed to address those challenges.

"TRAC does help you organize all that, helps you prepare, and makes sure that your credit union is in a good place," she said.

She explained that centralizing documentation and reporting provides teams — including those new to information security roles — with the clarity they need throughout the year.

Meyer also highlighted how credit union–specific regulatory expertise shapes the product.

"We know the landscape as it relates to NCUA, their requirements," she said, describing how feedback from consultants and end users keeps TRAC's content aligned with expectations. Features such as the ACET module and built-in risk assessment updates help ensure teams have guidance that stays aligned with examiner expectations.

For credit unions working to strengthen their GRC programs, SBS offers The State of Cybersecurity in Credit Unions: 2025 Executive Report, which outlines trends in staffing, threat exposure, testing maturity, and compliance pressures across the industry.
